Web Browser Speed Test for System Administrator

Filed under: Technology Articles — ryansa @ 12:39 AM

This test is intended to few browsers that were not up to the ”usual” capability spec (e.g. Flash Player plugin and some Javascripts are not supported), but are used for accessibility, or general speed reasons, or often by system administrators who do not have a GUI (just terminal). In several tests, Lynx and Links2 were so fast that it was nearly impossible to time, as pages were often loaded faster than buttons could be pressed.  All tests were on SuSE Linux 9.1 with KDE, except HotJava which was done on Windows XP (as with the other Java browsers).

Hardware; 1.6 GHz Intel Centrino M, 512 MB RAM.
